This qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and winemaking for individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines. Upon completion, you will be able to assess wines accurately and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin and will be able to use the associated WSET-certified logo.

Improve sales skills of the candidate in all areas of wine sales including restaurant, hotel, bar and bottle shop.
You will learn:
– The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling
– How these key factors influence the key characteristics of the principal
– How to apply your understanding to explain wine style and quality
– How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality, using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)


Course Duration: This qualification has a minimum requirement of 84 hours of study time, including 30 hours of guided study time with a two hour closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions and a short-written answer paper as well as a 30 minute closed book blind tasting exam of two wines.

This is broken up into 15 sessions and two exams. Bacchus Academy employs a hybrid methood. We start with an in-person seven hour introduction class. We get to know know the course and cove sessions 1, 2 and 3. We then host sessions 4 – 13 online via zoom, once a week, in the evenings. We then finish our course with another all-day in-person class as we finish our coursework and prepare of the upcoming exams.
