Isobella Barber

My passion for wine began in my early 20s, whilst at University in Melbourne, a friend and I would save up our extra cash to enjoy a great bottle of wine or champagne. Once I finished university, I was no longer the ‘poor student’ and began travelling overseas.  Whenever I was travelling, I make a point to visit wineries and learn more about the local wine culture and production. I truly enjoy the whole process of wine-making, from the vineyard to the glass.

My continued fascination with wine and desire to know more led to WSET, where I completed levels one, two and three. I have continued to further my wine knowledge by attending a number of masterclasses and I am currently studying an Italian Wine Course.

I’ve also had the opportunity to impart my wine knowledge through training restaurant staff in topics, such as ‘Food and Wine Matching’, ‘Wine Storage’ and ‘The Correct Serving of Wine’.

I am constantly surprised by how much there is to learn about wine, and how much there is still to discover. I look forward to continuing to explore the world of wine and continue to share my knowledge and passion with others. I am by nature an outgoing person. I love connecting with people and this is reflected in my ‘training style’. This includes lots of interaction and engaging with students.

This along with the comprehensive course material I put together, ensures that my students have fun as well as consolidate their education in wine. I look forward to the opportunity to join the Toowoomba WSET teaching team.
